dayWhat?

it was hot, very hot. and Laurent ran out of clean shorts. in each pic you see him he has that nasty wet butt and legs feeling going on under the white pants - uh (I know b/c that happened to me the day before, except that I got down in my undies and paraded around town). so on this here day, keith is just bouncing around with a little camera while Laurent makes for the shady side o' the street. ha!

luckily we had some nice local brews. click the ones below for details.

day 6: beach jumps!

these were taken at Smathers Beach this evening (thanks to Ben at Blue Heaven for telling us about this spot)...

day 5: we're laggin' a bit, but here are some more snapshots

Key West has a lovely downtown, which given the size of the island makes up most of Key West... lots to see. very Caribbean vibe and colonial too.

We swam in the ocean. A cool spot to see lots of fish is right by the Casa Marina resort...

(that's right!)

day 3: Everglades National Park and Bill's cool fish bungalow out in Homestead

... and just then, as we pulled in to Bill's little lot, David Ryan called from Santa Cruz. This was after a sweltering hot day canoeing the glades, getting Laurent's glasses stolen by a Republican from VT (but we followed his van and got them back, ha!), being eaten by mosquitoes, a few thunderstorms, and a kickbum rainbow...

(you know the drill: click pic above for slideshow, then F11 for full screen view)

Bill gave us the biggest avocado I'd seen since Cuba. Sprinkled it with salt, pepper, lime and garlic. Yum. The sunset pics are from his garden...

our jet lag got a bit better and Keith's heat/humidity resistance too. Laurent does not mind the heat so much.

day 2: drive from Miami to Florida city and Key Largo

well, what happened to day one ? day 1 was lots of time spent on a plane and in the Charlotte, N.C. airport for our connection.

day 2 was a late wake up in a classy but charmless Miami hotel (cool jacuzzi in our room) and a swim in the pool. Then the drive down to Florida City (gateway to the Everglades) trying to play burned CDs that would not play. rather uninteresting drive. but after we dropped our stuff off at the hotel we did a cool drive 30 miles south to Key Largo. some Big Chill Ahi Mahi sandwiches and Pale Ale followed by an awesome evening swim with no gators around (phew). great sunset.

Day 2 pictures are uploaded here (to start slideshow click on picture below, then hit F11 for full screen):
(little kid just appeared from a house nearby and stood on a rock in the water, he said his dad was in the army and he only saw him 2 or 3 times)
